About Renee Berg and Karen Petersen Wirth

Renée Berg is Lecturer in educational psychology at California State University Northridge (CSUN). She is also a Fellow at their Center for Teaching and Learning, focusing primarily on creating inclusive learning communities, embracing diverse learning styles for the success of all students. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, and a Master’s degree in human development from Pacific Oaks College. Renée has taught pre-school, elementary, high school, adults, seniors and special needs students.


Karen Petersen Wirth holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of California in Berkeley. She has also completed graduate work in elementary education through a joint program with Chico State University in Chico, California and St. Patrick’s College in Dublin, Ireland. After studying special education at San Jose State University, she worked in classrooms with children with highly diverse learning styles. An advocate of hands-on learning, Karen has also trained and taught in the Montessori method.
